Ingredients
-7/8 cup of unsweetened applesauce (that's 3/4 plus 1/8 (or 2 tbsp))- 1/4 cup nonfat milk- 1 cup whole wheat flour- 1 tsp baking powder- 1/2 tsp salt- 2 egg whites- 1/2 cup cocoa powder (i used hershey special dark for dark chocolate brownies- 1 1/4 cup stevia granulated or splenda granulated ( i prefer stevia)-water as needed to thin
Directions
-preheat oven to 350 degrees
- sift together flour, baking powder, salt, cocoa and sweetener
- mix applesauce, milk, and egg whites together
- add wet mixture to dry mixture and stir till well combined
- if the mixture is very thick, you may add some water (dont make too thin)
-taste the batter. It should be pretty sweet, but you want it to be very sweet as the finished product is not as sweet as the batter.
-spread in an oiled (use pam for no added caloires) 7x10 baking dish and place in oven
- bake for 20-25 minutes. Check at 15 or so to be sure with a toothpick. When the toothpick comes out clean, you should wait approximately 5 more minutes as it is still moist inside usually.
- remove from oven and cut into 16 pieces
- let cool, and serve

Note: these brownies are more like cake brownies and are not the norm texture. This is not saying they are not delicious, and they will definitely cure your chocolate cravings!

Enjoy!
