Vegetarian Black Bean Burgers

Ingredients
1 can (15 oz.) black beans, drained ,rinsed and mashed1/4 cup finely chopped onion1/3 cup whole kernel corn1/4 cup thick and chunky salsa1 garlic clove, pressed2 tbsp. snipped fresh cilantro or parsley1/4 tsp. salt1/8 tsp. ground black pepper1/2 cup unseasoned dry bread crumbs2 egg whites, lightly beaten4 whole wheat hamburger bunsOptional Toppings: reduced-fat sour cream, salsa, and lettuce
Directions
"1. Mash beans in a bowl. Add chopped onion, corn, salsa, pressed garlic, cilantro, salt, and black pepper to beans and mix well. Add bread crumbs and egg whites to bean mixture and mix well. Form bean mixture into four round patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
2. Heat the skillet over medium heat until hot. Lightly spray pan with nonstick cooking spray; cook patties 6 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned, turning once.
3. Place burgers on buns and serve with toppings."
