3/4 C Barley, pearled, 1 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onion 1 C Chicken Broth 4 tbsp Smart Balance Buttery Spread, 20 Baby Carrots 1 Turnip cubed 1 Leek 3 stalks Celery, medium (7-1/2" - 8" long) 1 C Mushrooms, fresh, pieces or slices 1 tsp Salt,
Directions
Place all ingredients in crock pot and cook for 3 hours on high.

    It's in my crockpot now; however after 2 hours, the 1 cup of broth absorbed into the barley and the turnips began to scorch. What's missing here? - 12/19/07
