Johana's Plantains

Ingredients
1/3 cup panela (or coconut sugar or light brown sugar)1 tbsp honey 2 cinnamon sticks1 vanilla bean, split and scraped (keep the pod)˝ tbsp salted butter2 large ripe (black) plantains, peeled and cut into chunks1 large *just* ripe (still a hint of green) banana, peeled and cut into chunks
Directions
Combine the panela, honey, cinnamon, vanilla seeds and pod, and butter in a small pot and melt together into a syrupy mixture.
Add the plantains and banana, then cover and cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring often.
