Eating this right now. Holy cow! So Good!!!! I used steel cut oats and 1% milk. I also left out the walnuts this time (had none). Also missed the instruction about soaking over night...oops! Oh well, they still turned out great, thrown together this morning. Definitely a keeper of a recipe! - 7/4/12

I just wanted to make a plug for us Canadians, one thing we do have only in Canada is our national tree, the maple, and we have managed to find a way to tap the best maple syrup. It is something tourists buy in barrel-fulls when they visit Canada. So, you can thank us for that - beats Aunt Jamima! - 5/19/12

I tried this recipe for breakfast this morning, and it was delicious!!!! I didn't think I would like the addition of the pepper, but it was really good. I didn't have any maple syrup but I did add raisins and was very happy! I am looking forward to trying it again tomorrow morning--yummy! - 3/24/12

I buy steel cut oats in bulk at my local health food stoore. Much cheaper than the packaged. I love them with some goat cheese and dried cranberries.
Soaking overnight is the best method I have found. I have also cooked on low in crockpot overnight (but I get up in the middle of the night to check) - 3/23/12

I'm going to sub unsweetened almond milk (35 cals/c.), and it should be perfect! It seems tempting to skim on breakfast and eat less calories, but I've found that making sure I eat enough in the morning is crucial to controlling my portions the rest of the day. 300-400 calories is ideal! - 5/9/12
