Sauce1/2 T butter or margarine1/2 T flour1/4 c milk1 bay leaf (remove before serving)1/2 oz shredded swiss cheese1 T grated parmesan cheesesalt and pepperSandwich2 slices firm bread (french, sour dough, etc2 oz thin slices ham1/2 oz swiss cheese (1 oz in all with the shredded chesses above.)
Make sauce by melting butter and stirring in flour. Whisk in milk until smooth. Add bay leaf and cook, stirring until sauce thickens. Stir in cheese, salt and pepper to taste.
Make sandwiches with ham between cheese (divide up slice or use shredded). Spray pan with non-stick spray and also the outside of the sandwich and grill until browned on both sides. Put sandwich in a shallow baking dish and top each with the white sauce. Broil until sauce is golden brown and cheese is melted through. Cut and serve.
