Number of Servings: 10

Ingredients

    Small onion chopped
    1.5 lbs ground pork
    1.5 lbs potatoe
    Double pie crust for 9 in pie
    Salt
    Pepper
    Ground clove

Directions

Chop onion and put into large pot. Crumble raw ground pork into same pan. Cover with water and boil until pork is cooked through. Drain, reserving some of the broth to moisten potatoes. While the pork is cooking, peel and dice potatoes. Drain and mash using reserved pork broth to moisten. Mix drained pork/onion mix with mashed potato. Season with salt, pepper and ground clove to taste. Line a 9 in pie plate with crust. Fill with pork/potatoe filling and cover with remaining crust. Seal and flute edges and bake in 325 degree oven until crust is golden brown, approx 1 hour. Serve hot from oven plain, with pork gravy, or ketsup. Also great cold.

    This reminds me of my Memme’s pork pie. She added a dash of allspice and cloves. Also, used 1/2 ground beef and 1/2 pork. So good. My family loves it and it is a holiday tradition. Jo-Ann Cook - 6/26/18
