This French-style stew tastes great and can be made ahead of time. It is always a favourite at the dinner table.
Submitted by QUEENYEESHFine dining without the health or financial guilt. I put this together to satisfy the steakhouse craving, delivering all the flavor without the excessive fat. I know everything is in grams, they are easiest to work with in the kitchen if you have a scale, and make baking far more consistent.
Submitted by RAINMANJAIf you're looking for a traditional beef stew recipe, this is it! This recipe is from Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" and in French is called "Boeuf A La Catalane". I only altered it to use less bacon, less oil, and canned tomatoes. All the original french techniques are used to make this a phenomenal melt-in-your-mouth delicacy, fit for a king!! The sauce is actually velvety, and so rich!! Just add a steamed green veggie or salad to make a complete meal!!
Submitted by TAMRACLOVECA delicious (although only vaguely healthy) French ham-and-cheese sandwich.
Submitted by TCHANNGreat recipe adapted from Emeril's Apple-Brandy Grilled Pork Loin. You could also use the trimmed pork loin as he has in that recipe.
Submitted by FITTECHPROThe sweetness of parsnips with savory pork and Cannellini beans.
Submitted by PSYMONETTAWhy no category for Lamb? I had to fit this into the "Beef & Pork" because there is no appropriate category. Also, I had to guess at some of the ingredients entered, as there was no exact correllation in the SparkPeople database. However, I think I came pretty close. Enjoy - this is great stuff!

A traditional French dish, perfect for those who need to put dinner in the oven and leave it be until it is ready!
Works well with peppers, courgettes (zucchinis), aubergines (eggplants) instead of tomatoes...and a good way to use up leftover meat instead of mince (if doing so, then reduce cooking time to only 20 min!)
