Kroger Pinto Beans (2 lbs bag)saltpepper1 large onion2 slices 11% regular hamwater
Directions
Boil ham in water. Add pinto beans, onions and season. Cook until tender. ( soak beans for at least 10 hours first)

    I heard that soaking the beans helps with the "gas".... :)... so better to soak and rinse thoroughly before cooking - 2/27/10

    I made this with a slight variation of using canned beans (drained them) plus put in a big hambone that had leftover from Christmas. Soooooo goood. Thank you for sharing this! - 1/5/10

    I also never soak the beans just put in a crock pot on low all day, or overnight. I use ham hocks most of the time. If I don't have them just broth. You can use what ever spices you like and it is delicious on anything. Tortillas, plain, rice, eggs. - 5/5/08

    This reminds me of the way my mother always made them. My mouth waters at the thought. I'm going to fix mine tomorrow in the crockpot, though, and I never soak my beans and they come out just fine (mom soaked them but I don't.. I'm a rebel ~ lol) - 4/25/08
