1) A young turkey with Giblets from 16 to 25 lbs2) Two large onions3) 35 cloves of garlic4) 6 lemons5) 16 packs Sazon Goya (Sazon con Azafran) 6) 4 cups Canola or Vegetable Oils 7) 2 cups Vinegar can be Apple Cider or White Vinegar8) 1/4 a cup Parsley Dried9) 1/4 a cup Oregano10) 1 cup Sofito11) 2 Apples
Clean the turkey with water. Chop the lemons in half and squeeze the lemons on top of the turkey. Use the lemons to rub the turkey down and clean with their juices. Rinse the turkey off with water and place in roasting pan. Slice onions. Peel garlic and set aside 5 garlic cloves to chop into slivers. In a bowl combine sliced onion, garlic, Sazon, Oil, Vinegar, Parsley, Oregano and Sofrito. Mix the ingredients well. Take the 5 garlic cloves and cut into slivers. Take a knife and pierce turkey inserting garlic clove slivers into the openings. Pour mixture over turkey. Take a basting brush and brush the mixture over hard to reach places. Baste the turkey with the mixture. Place an apple inside either end of the turkey. Cover with aluminum foil and place in the oven. Every half hour to hour take turkey out to baste and brush with the mixture and drippings on the bottom of the pan. Cook for 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 hours or until turkey thermometer pops or turkey reaches internal heat 180 degrees.
