Baked French Toast Casserole

7 oz day old French or Italian bread, torn into cubes4 large eggs1 1/4 cups milk2 tbsp. maple syrup1 tsp. vanilla extract1/4 tsp. salt2 tbsp. sugar1 tbsp. cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly butter an 8x8 inch baking pan.
Line bottom of pan with bread cubes.
In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, maple syrup, salt, vanilla, and half of the cinnamon.
Pour egg mixture over bread. Dot with butter and then let stand for 10 minutes.
Combine sugar with the remaining cinnamon and sprinkle over the top. Bake in preheated oven about 45 to 50 minutes, until top is golden.
