1/2 Tbsp canola oil2 lbs uncooked 93% lean ground beef1 large onion, diced3 cloves garlic, minced15 oz Hunts tomato sauce, no salt added2 cans chili style diced tomatoes6 oz light beer1 cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed1 can pinto beans, drained and rinsed1/4 cup chili powder1 Tbsp ground cumin1 tsp dried oregano1 tsp ground cayenne, or to taste 1 tsp Tabasco, or to taste
Heat oil in a large dutch oven over medium heat. Add beef and cook until browned; drain off any excess fat. Add the onion and garlic to the pot, and cook until tender - about 5 minutes. Add tomato sauce and tomatoes. Cook, covered, for 30 minutes.
Remove lid and add the remaining ingredients. Reduce heat and continue to simmer for another hour. If the chili is too thick, add water until desired consistency.
