1 cup sifted flour2/3 Cup brown sugar1/2 tsp salt3 TBSP shortening (not butter flavored)2/3 cup molasses (amish table syrup)2/3 cup boiling water1/2 tsp baking soda.
In second bowl, mix molasses, boiling water, and then add the soda. Immediately put the wet ingredients into the pie crust lined pan. sprinkle dry ingredients over the liquid in the pie pan. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes, then turn down to 350 degrees for 25 minutes or more (until top is firm.)
