Ground beef, lean, 450 grams Onions, raw, 1 large Beans, red kidney, 400 grams Canned Tomatoes, 1 can Garlic, 6 clovesChili powder, .5 tbsp*Hot Chili Peppers, 1 pepper *Cumin seed, 1 tsp Pepper, black, 1 tsp Ginger Root, 1 tsp Mushrooms, fresh, 1 cup, pieces or slicesCarrots, raw, 1 medium Olive Oil, 2 tbsp Salt, 1 tsp
Brown the beef in a bit of oil and set aside. If using a lean mince, you shouldn't be left with too much oil. If not drain excess oil
Add remaining olive oil into the pan and soften the onions, garlic, ginger, fresh chili, bay leaf. Afer a few minutes add mushrooms.
Add finely diced carrots and return the beef. Stir in the cumin, chili powder, ground black pepper, tomatoes and beans. Add half cup of water and simmer for 20 mins. Longer cooking time preferred.
Serve with basmati rice and a green salad
