Home-made Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Ingredients
1 cup lowfat, 1% milk, well chilled3/4 cup granulated sugar1 cup heavy whipping cream, well chilled1 to 1-1/2 tsp. pure peppermint extract4 oz. semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate bar
Directions
Ice cream made using a Cuisinart ice cream maker and recipe is from the Cuisinart manual. 5 min. to prepare, 25-30 mi. chilling time; optional 2 hrs. to ripen in freezer.
In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer or whisk to combine the milk and granulated sugar until the sugar is dissolved, about 1-2 minutes on low speed. Stir in the heavy cream and peppermint extract to taste. Turn machine on, pour the mixture into freezer bowl through ingredient spout and let mix until thickened, about 25-30 minutes. While mixing, chop your favorite 4 oz. bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate bar into tiny, uneven pieces. Add the chopped chocolate during the last 5 minutes of mixing.
