Breakfast Smoothie
- Minutes to Prepare:
- Number of Servings: 2
Ingredients
Directions
1 cup orange juice1/2 cup plain low-fat yogurt1 banana2 1/2 cups frozen strawberries
Makes 2 2-cup servings.
Feel free to substitute any combination of frozen fruits in place of strawberries.
Using the measuring lines on the side of the blender lets you avoid washing measuring cups!
Pour orange juice in blender. Add yogurt till the combination reaches the 1.5 cup line. Add banana. Replace lid on blender and puree for a few seconds.
Add strawberries to approximately the 4.5 cup line. Use the ice crush function to begin breaking down the berries, then run on smoothie speed for 30 seconds or so until everything is blended smooth. If you don't have approximately 4 cups of smoothie, add strawberries until you do.
This makes two breakfast-sized servings, but is also great to serve in smaller portions to accompany other breakfast foods.

I use frozen blueberries (thawed slightly so they blend) sometimes with strawberries (though the blueberry flavour is predominant). My husband likes it with the frozen melon and peaches mix. Makes a great desert with frozen yogurt instead of yogurt - like a milkshake. Very filling. - 7/13/10
