Orange Date Scones

Ingredients
1 C unbleached spelt flour1/2 C whole spelt flour1/4 tsp salt2 tsp baking powder1/3 C pitted dates, cut into quarters1/3 C walnuts or pecans, coarsely chopped3 T EVOO1/4 C maple syrup2 tsp fresh orange zest1/3 C orange juice
Directions
Preheat oven to 425.
Mix flours, salt and baking powder in a large bowl. Add dates and nuts, stir to combine. Set aside.
In medium bowl, combine oil, syrup, zest, and juice. Whisk together.
Pour wet mix into dry mix and mix with a spoon until just combined. Do not overmix.
Measure in 1/3 c portions onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake 10 - 12 minutes, until scones are lightly browned at edges.
