Guava Cake

Ingredients
16 ounces guava paste sliced thinly12 tablespoons of butter creamed1 cup sugar, add slowly to butter and cream2 large eggs, add to butter one at a time1 teaspoon vanilla extract, add to butter mixture2 cups flour1 teaspoon baking powder, sifted with flour
Directions
Beat the wet ingredients together then add the dry ingredients.

Pour half the batter into a greased 8x8 baking pan
Lay the slices of guava paste over the batter
Pour the rest of the batter over it all
Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes or until it passes the toothpick test.
