I used a can of rotel tomatos in lieu of plain tomatos and added a can of tomato sauce. You need to add water, but do not fill up to top of pot like I did. I would have rather used less water and have a thicker "stew" as we ate this over rice and loved it! - 8/5/08

Oh my goodness this dish is wonderful -- a meal by itself! I used only rotel tomatoes (tomatoes with diced chiles), no tomato sauce, and 1 cup of water! Just use a slotted spoon to plate/bowl. Totally awesome! I'm glad my husband doesn't like cabbage! - 8/11/08

I made this and used rotel tomatoes and added garlic powder. I cooked in the crockpot for about 7 hours. YUM! - 3/19/12

I wish my family liked this more - it was so easy! But it won't be on our rotation. Not quite sure what was missing, just not in our tastes, I guess. - 2/10/11

Made it today and absolutely loved it. Didn't use the onion but added garlic seasoning and hotsauce after plating. Definately will make again. - 2/7/10

My wife makes this for me and it is the absolute best meal I've ever had. When it's in the crock pot all day, I can't wait for dinner time. Cooked cabbage obviously creates an odor, der - duh! I like to put hot sauce on it for a kick. It's great on calories too! - 10/7/08
