12 cup, chopped Cabbage, red, fresh 1 tbsp Spectrum Organic Veg Shortening 1 - 2 tsp packed Brown Sugar 1 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions, chopped1 Granny smith apple - 1 med., chopped ½ tsp Caraway Seed, ground (use spice grinder)4 serving Cloves, whole (per clove) (by GRANMACHERI) 1 - 1.5tbsp Cider Vinegar Salt and pepper to taste
Melt shortening. Add brown sugar, onions & apples and cook until brown over low heat.
Add cabbage.
Sprinkle with caraway, cloves nutmeg, salt and pepper to taste, vinegar and stir. Add a little water to prevent sticking and simmer for 30 - 60 minutes until done to your taste.
