1 medium onion chopped3 cloves chopped garlic1 lb. very lean ground beef1 8 oz. can tomato sauce1 can diced tomatoes with sweet onion1 can beef broth1 Tbs. vinegar2 Tbs. paprika1/8 tsp. marjoramsalt and pepper to taste1 small head cabbage cut in 8ths1/3 cup quick cooking barley (uncooked)
Brown together onion, garlic and ground beef until all pink is gone.
Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, vinegar, salt, pepper, majoram, and paprika.
Cover and simmer for 45 minutes.
Add cabbage and simmer 15 more minutes.
All quick cooking barley and cover and simmer 10 more minutes.
Thicken with cornstarch in cold water if necessary.
Makes 6 1 cup serbings
