Ingredients
2 cup Kroger - Lentils (dry) 2.5 tsp Salt 1.5 tsp Turmeric, ground 7 cup (8 fl oz) Water, tap 1 tsp Cardamom, ground .25 tsp Cloves, ground 1.25 tsp Cumin seed 2 cup, chopped Onions, raw 2 pepper Serrano Peppers 1 medium whole (2-3/5" dia) Red Ripe Tomatoes 100 grams Cilantro, raw 1 1tsp Coconut Oil
Directions
Stir together lentils with turmeric and 6 cups of water in a large sauce pan. Bring to a boil over medium heat the reduce to a simmer, cover and cook until tender (about 30-40 minutes). Add remaining water 1/4 cup at a time until desired thickness.

In a medium sauce pan, heat oil, over medium. Add cardamom, cloves and cumin. Cook until fragrant (about 45 seconds). Add onion and serrano chiles. Cook stirring often until onions are soft. Add tomato and continue to stir often until it begins to break down (about 4 minutes). Remove from heat and add to the lentils along with the chopped cilantro. Stir to combine and season with salt to taste.

Serve with Roti or naan.
