1 cup whole oats soaked overnight in 5 cups waterOne 2-inch strip kombu, soaked with the oats4 Tbsp. toasted sunflower seeds4 Tbsp. toasted chopped almonds
Soak oats and kombu overnight
Bring the oats and kombu to a boil in a 3 quart covered pan. Reduce the flame and simmer, uncovered, for 2 hours. Switch off the heat and leave to stand overnight.
In the morning, heat the porridge carefully, making sure there's water in the pan to prevent it from sticking. Add more water if necessary. Serve with 1 Tbsp tasted sesame seeds and 1 Tbsp. toasted almonds in each bowl. Keeps for 3 days.
