Bread and Butter Pickles

Ingredients
1 gallon cukes1 big onion sliced2 green pepper sliced1/2 cup Mortons Kosher salt, not iodized1 qt crushed ice
Directions
Put cukes, onions, and peppers in pan. Cover with ice. Put 1/2 cup salt over ice. Let sit 3 hours, drain and rinse.

Put in Large Pan:
5 cups sugar
1 1/2 t tumeric powder
1/2 t ground cloves
1 T celery seed
2 T mustard seed
5 cups white vinegar

Add cukes, onions and peppers to this - bring to boil. Remove and can in jars.
