1 Tbsp margarine1/2 small onion, minced1 clove garlic, minced1 Tbsp Ancho Chile powder1 cup ketchup1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar2 Tbsp cider vinegar2 Tbsp prepared yellow mustard1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce1-1/2 tsp liquid hickory-smoke flavoringPinch of cayenne peppersalt
Melt the margarine in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic and chile powder and cook, stirring, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire, liquid smoke and cayenne. Season lightly with salt, and simmer over low heat, stirring frequently, until thick and glossy, 15 to 20 minutes. Will keep tightly covered in refrigerator for up to a month.
