Ingredients
Directions
6 -3oz cube steaks2 eggs, beaten1/2 cup buttermilk1/2 cup whole wheat flour1/2 cup garbanzo bean flour (can use all wheat flour if you do not have garbanzo flour on hand)1 tsp seasoned salt1 tsp onion powder1 tsp black pepper2 tsp garlic powder1 Tbsp dried parsley4 Tbsp canola oil2- 1 gallon ziplock bags**The calories are a bit higher on here than what it actually is, you will have some of the flour , buttermilk, and eggs left over, and not all the oil is absorbed. But I had to put exactly what I used. I would say that these each actually have around 250 cal.**
Place steaks in large ziplock bag, pour buttermilk over the steaks. Remove as much air as you can & seal. Let sit for 15 min in refrigerator.
Meanwhile, pour all dry ingredients in large ziplock bag, seal & shake to mix. Pour 1/4 cup of mixture onto a plate.
Pour oil in nonstick pan and preheat on med.
While oil is heating remove steaks, one at a time, from buttermilk. Let as much milk drip off as possible, dredge in plate of flour mixture. Then dip both sides in eggs. Place steak in ziplock bag with flour, shake to cover steak with flour mixture. Place steak in heated pan with oil. Repeat with remaining steaks.
Cook steaks on first side until crisp & brown, about 5 min. Turn and cook and additional 2-3 min or until done.
Serve with white gravy & mashed potatoes, if desired.
