L.R. cherry cobler

3 1/2 cups fresh pitted sour cherries2/3 cup sugarwater1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour1 cup sugar1 T. baking powder1/2 tsp. salt1 cup milk2 T. butter
Combine cherries water and 2/3 cup sugar. Bring to a boil, simmer for about 10 minutes. Cool completely!
Preheat oven to 375. Place 9'x13' baking pan in oven with the butter in it to melt. Meanwhile, combine flour, sugar baking powder and salt in a bowl. Add milk and mix to combine. When butter is melted in pan and hot, pour batter into pan. Carefully spoon cherriy mixture over batter. Bake for 45 minutes. Cherries and batter will exchange places before cobler is done baking. Makes 12 servings.
