Pepper - Herb and Cheese Biscuits with Salba

2 cups flour 2 cups whole wheat flour2 tbsp Salba seed (white chia seed)2 tsp garlic powder1 tsp cracked black pepper1 1/2 tbsp baking powder1 tsp baking soda1/2 cup vegetable shortening1 1/2 cups buttermilk2/3 cup minced fresh parsley1/2 cup finely shredded old Cheddar cheese
Preheat oven to 425F.
Combine flour through baking soda in a large bowl.
Cut in shortening until a coarse-meal texture forms.
Pour in buttermilk, parsley and cheese, and mix just until blended.
Pat out on a floured board and cut into rounds.
Place on ungreased sheets.
Bake 12 minutes, rotating pans halfway through baking time.
Remove immediately to wire rack.
