Sausage and Sage Dressing

12 slices Sara Lee Delightfully Light Whole Wheat Bread1 12-oz roll Jimmy Dean Light Pork Sausage1 cup chopped onion1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper1 cup chopped carrots1 cup chopped celery1 cup Swanson's 99% Fat-Free Chicken Broth4 tablespoons fresh ground sage
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Lightly spray a baking sheet with fat-free cooking spray and set aside.
Cut bread into cubes and place on prepared baking sheet. Bake approximately 10 minutes, or until toasted. Meanwhile, crumble sausage into a heavy skillet and cook thoroughly, until lightly browned. Drain, rinse, and set aside.
Remove bread cubes from oven and reduce oven temperature to 375 degrees.
Combine toasted bread cubes and sausage in a large bowl. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Mixture should be very moist, but not soggy. Stir in water as needed to reach this consistency.
Lightly spray a 9-inch square casserole with fat-free cooking spray. Spoon dressing mixture into casserole and use the back of the spoon to compress the dressing and smooth the top.
Bake at 375 degrees (F) for 30 minutes or until heated through and lightly browned.
Makes 12 servings, approximately 1/2 cup per serving.
