Pumpkin Date Bread

1 cup applesauce1 cup canned pumpkin2/3 cup canola oil3 eggs1/2 cup skim milk1/3 cup molasses1 tsp vanilla extract3 2/3 cups all-purpose flour2 cups sugar2 tsp cinnamon1 tsp numeg1/2 tsp baking powder1 cup chopped dates1/2 cup chopped pecansTOPPING:1/ cup packed brown sugar1/4 cup chopped pecans1/2 tsp cinnamon
Makes 2 loaves, 16 servings each, about 1/2 in slice
In a large mixing bowl, combine the first seven ingredients; mix well. Combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and baking powder; gradually add to pumpkin mixture and mix well. Stir in dates and pecans. pour into two greased 9 x 5 in loaf pans.
Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350 for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. cool for 15 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks.
