Jam Thumbprint Cookies

Ingredients
3 sticks butter, unsalted3/4 cup confectioners' sugar1 tsp. vanilla extract2 cups AP flour1 cup cornstarch1/2 tsp. salt1 cup finely ground toasted walnuts or pecans
Directions
Makes 5 1/2 dozen cookies.

Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Sift in flour, cornstarch, and salt and beat until just incorporated. Fold in nuts. Cover dough and chill at least 4 hours.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Forms dough into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Using moistened thumb, press a deep indentation into the center of each cookie. Bake 13 to 15 minutes until very lightly golden. Spoon jam into each thumbprint while cookies are still warm.
