Grilled Caribbean Turkey Burgers

Ingredients
1 lb. ground turkey1 tbsp. grated lime peel1 tsp. fresh thyme1/2 tsp. ground allspice1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper1/4 tsp. salt8 onion slices8 thin slices french bread1 tbsp. olive oil mayonnaise
Directions
1. Preheat grill and brush lightly with olive oil or spray with cooking spray.

2. Mix turkey, lime peel, thyme, allspice, crushed red pepper and salt together. Shape into 4 patties.

3. Grill patties until thoroughly cooked and grill bread and onions at same time.

4. After removing the bread from the grill, brush each slice with 1/2 tbsp. olive oil mayonnaise and assemble burgers with 2 onion slices and one patty each.

*This recipe originally called for ground pork. The pork is also fantastic but higher in fat and calories.

I serve with fresh fruit and iced tea.

    Looking at the ingredent list it looks like this is for the whole sandwich bread and all, right? Do u use light turkey or full fat? Sounds great! - 2/10/09

    Yes, the nutritional information is for the entire sandwich, bread and all. Of course you can alter it to reduce the amount of calories. I find that it's a very filling sandwich. Oh, and I normally use 93/7 ground turkey. If you don't mind the extra calories, try using pork, it's so good!
