Spicy black bean chicken

2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, sliced1 c rice2 c water1 medium yellow onion2 cloves garlic, chopped1 can black beans1 can diced tomatoes1 can green chiles3/4 tsp cumin3/4 tsp chili powderBlack pepper to tasteSalsa as needed
In a medium pot, boil 2 c water. Add rice, cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a large pan, cook garlic and onions in small amount of water over med-high heat.
Add cumin and chili powder (and black pepper if you wish). Stir. Add salsa as needed to keep from sticking to pan. Add chicken and cook until white, stirring occasionally. Add beans, tomatoes, and chiles, stir and cook until hot through. Serve over rice. Add hot sauce for more spice.
