Buttermilk Scones

Ingredients
3 cups Flour1/3 cup sugar1 tsp salt2 1/2 tsp baking powder1/2 tsp baking soda3/4 cup, 1 1/2 sticks room temp butter1 cup buttermilk1/2 cup currants, blueberries or fruit of choice
Directions
Heat oven to 400 F. Mix together dry ingredients. Cut in butter with pastry blender, or your choice of implement, mixing to coarse meal. Add buttermilk and mix just til combined - don't overmix. Add fruit. Divide dough into 2 parts. Pat out each to a circle, then cut into 8 pieces. Hint: if using fresh fruit e.g. blueberries pat out 1/2 of one of the circles then place blueberries on top and add the other half of this circle and proceed to cut inot 8 parts. Place each scones on baking sheet and bake for approx. 15 minutes. Makes 16 scones.
