I substituted one cup of the water for a cup of low-sodium chicken broth, and then added an additional cup of vegetable broth, because it didn't look like enough liquid. The end result was a very creamy and yummy soup. - 5/10/07

Yum!! What a great way to warm up on cold days. I left out the bouillon/broth to cut the sodium down, betcha you'll never miss it! :) - 3/17/07

I followed the instructions exactly (used vegetable broth), and this did not turn out well at all. Very brothy and zero flavor. Not sure where I went wrong. Won't be making again. - 12/5/14

Apparently I have a very small slow cooker. Couldn't fit everything in. Found it a little bland, was not creamy at all, but I think the blending as other mentioned would probably help. Definitely a good base, will play around with ingredients, but will make it again. - 10/20/14

This soup was delish! I used red potatos so I had to cook it A LOT longer than 7 hours. I cooked it about ten hours. I also added some chopped garlic at the begging. I took the advice that others posted and pureed a little more than half in the blender and yummo! - 8/22/11

a must try! i usually skip the ingredients that i think i wont like, but not this time. My adjustment to the recipe- Puree about 4 cups of the soup in a blender or food processor, and then stir pureed soup into contents of slow cooker. This soup was so good! I cant believe i made it. - 1/30/11

I love this soup, and I don't even like the veggies that are in it. My boyfriend made it one day and I've been craving it ever since. Had to make it again! - 11/9/09

It was wonderful. Since I am a college kid i just threw it in the crock pot and served with grilled cheese. My roommates loved it. And my roommates are VERY picky eaters. - 10/9/08
