This is exactly how I've been making brown rice for the past year or so and it comes out perfect every time. I generally double the recipe (so I can use a large covered casserole), and boil the water in a kettle. I generally freeze it in family-sized servings. - 4/17/11

I make this as a base for all rice dishes. For mexican, I brown the rice, onion and garlic in 1 TBSP olive oil before adding into baking dish. I leave out the butter (Because I added EVOO)add chicken flavoring, 1TBSP tomato sauce chili power cumin and cilantro and bake as directed. - 9/10/10
