Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients
4 cup Flour, white sifted1 tsp Baking Powder 1 tsp Baking Soda1 tsp Salt 2/3 cup Granulated SugarRaisins, 1 cup, packed 1 egg1 cup Buttermilk3/4 cup Buttermilk
Directions
Combine dry ingredients. Beat egg in 3\4 c. of buttermilk. Add to dry mixture. Add 1 cupp buttermilk to batter until it has a sticky, lumpy texture. Add raisins. Place in 2 greased loaf pans. Bake at 325 for 45-50 minutes.

    I liked this soda bread however I eliminated the raisins and added 1 cup of steel cut oats we like hearty breads to go with our irish food, but my husband does not like raisins in it when we are eating it with stews of meat filled entree's. This is the easiest bread I have ever made!!!!!!! - 3/17/10
