Ingredients
Ground beef, lean, 16 oz *Turkey, Ground turkey, 93% lean, 32 oz Tomato Soup, 2 cans (10.75 oz) Del Monte Diced Tomatoes, No Salt Added, 4 cup White Rice, long grain, .5 cup Water, approx. 32 fl oz Garlic, 4 cloves -choppedOnions, raw, 1 cup, chopped Cabbage, fresh, 1 head, large (about 7" dia) OPTIONAL:Sauerkrauat - 14-16 oz garlic powder Onion powderPepper
Directions
{To really save time you can use chopped garlic that comes in a jar - get the one in water. Frozen chopped onions.}
Using a large soup pot (8 qt or larger) Place the ground meat in the pan on a medium high heat brown the meat add onions and garlic and saute until meat is no longer pink you can drain if you want to. I don't . While the meat is browning cut the cabbage up into wedges (cut head in half then half again) then cut into slices I leave them pretty wide. Add the cabbage on top of the meat, next add diced tomatoes, then sprinkle the half cup of rice over the top. Mix tomato soup with water or just dump on top. Pour the remaining water over the top cover the pot and bring to a boil. Simmer covered for 2 hours. You can stir this once or twice during cooking but try not to have the rice go to the bottom. After 2 hours mix all through before serving. Good the next day and freezes well. Serves approx 16.

    This was delicious. I did add a few spices of my own for a more pungent taste. It turned out great. It freezes well too. - 8/29/09
