You can substitute mashed banana for the margarine, which will be a lot healthier. If there are no nut allergies then walnuts will work out well. Try adding black chia seeds for the additional health benefits! NOTE: Other multi-grain cereals can be substituted for the Red River Cereal. - 11/30/20

Fabulous! Added a bit of mini chips instead of raisins, and kids love them :) I also like that I can make these for my sister with nut allergies and yet they still seem "nutty". Thx!

We use Becel margarine to make these cookies with 100% pure olive oil. There is no trans fat and it is non-hydrogenated. We like to add about 3/4 cup of chocolate chips to this recipe, with chopped walnuts and chopped dried fruit. You can really have a LOT of fun with this recipe! :) It's AMAZING!!! - 6/9/10

I love these, we use a lot of red river cereal in a lot of our baking. - 3/19/07

Sounds good, but unless you're vegan, butter would be better; it's not a fake food. - 3/19/07

These look great! I've been looking for a recipe like this. I cut out some of the butter though. - 3/18/07
