Salisbury Steak with onion sauce

Ingredients
4 tbls. butter1 tbls. water1 large onion1 1/2 lbs. ground beef2 cloves garlic2 tbls. chives1 tbls. parsley1/4 tsp. thyme1 tsp. salt1/4 tsp. black pepper2 tbls. flour1 c. beef broth
Directions
Place 2 tbls. butter, the water, and all but 2 tbls. of the onion in a skillet over low heat. Cover and cook for 10 min.
In a large bowl combine beef, garlic, chives, parsley, thyme, salt, pepper and the last of the onion. Shape into 6 patties about 1 inch thick.
Heat remaining 2 tbls. butter in heavy skillet over med heat untill bubbly. Add the patties and cook about 4 min on each side. Remove the patties to a warm platter and set aside.
Stir flour in the cooked onion and cook for 1 min over high heat. Add the beef broth and boil for 4 min. Stirring until sauce thickens.
Place patties in the sauce to reheat briefly and spoon the sauce over them.
