Eggless Chocolate Cake

4 and 1/2 cups all purpose white flour3 cups granulated sugar 1 cup unsweetend cocoa powder 3 tsp baking soda1/2 tsp salt 3 cups water ( either tap or bottled)1 cup vegetable oil (16 tablespoons)3 tablesspoons vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees, grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan (or two rounds)
In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, soda and salt. Add sugar and mix together.
Make a well with dry ingredients and Add oil, water and vanilla extract into the centre mix thoroughly with electric mixer on medium speed
Pour batter into a 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

2 cups water 1 cup 1%milk
whisk liquid ingredients together first then add to dry ingredients slowly

i baked this just now. I deleted the oil and used applesauce instead. i also used ONLY 4 tablespoons of sugar (48g). after i put the cake in the oven, I waited for 15 minuted before putting 12 to 15 bottled maraschino cherries on the top of the cake and then let it bake til the end! Superrrb! - 5/2/12
