Ingredients
3 c. flour1/3 c sugar1 T baking powder1.5 t kosher salt1 bottle favorite beer3 T butter, melted
Directions
Sift together dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl. (You can substitute half the flour with whole wheat flour if you wish, though it will change the consistency of the bread). Pour a bottle of your favorite beer into the bowl and mix with a spatula. The better the beer, the better the bread! The batter will be thick, lumpy and sticky, but should come away from the sides of the bowl. Try not to overmix. Transfer batter to a greased loaf pan. Melt the butter and pour over the top of the batter in the pan. Bake on 375 for 40 minutes. Cover with foil for remaining ten minutes. Let the bread cool for 20 minutes before removing from pan so that the crispy, buttery crust doesn't separate from the loaf. Enjoy with traditional Irish, British, or German foods and of course, the appropriate beer!
