Mom's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
4 1/2 cups all purpose flour2 tsp baking soda2 tsp salt1 cup softened butter1 cup shortening (Crisco, butter-flavored)1 1/2 cup granulated sugar1 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed1 tsp vanilla extract1 tsp almond extract4 large eggs2 cups (1 small bag) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Combine flour, baking soda, and salt - set aside.
Beat butter, sugars, and flavorings in a mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Gradually beat in flour mixture.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake 8 1/2 minutes. Cool 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Makes about 5 dozen normal sized cookies.

    This recipe does belong on this site. A healthy diet involves occasional, portion-controlled "treat foods", but it's very difficult to control the portion if you have no idea what the calories are. That's what the recipe calculator is FOR. One of these cookies is a reasonable dessert. - 7/30/09

    I'm sorry, but with a cup of saturated fat, a cup of transfat, 3 cups of sugar, and 4 eggs- this recipe does not belong on this site. This is for healthy versions of full fat recipes. - 6/8/09
