Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cake

cakeAdd one box of chocolate cake mix1 can cherry pie filling2 large eggs1 tsp. pure almond extractglaze1 cup sugar1/3 cup butter1/3 cup whole milk1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Mix together chocolate cake mix, pie filling, eggs, and extract. In a mixer blend on low speed for 1 minute. Stop mixer and scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula. Increase the mixer speed to medium and beat 2 minutes more scraping the sides if necessary. Pour batter into greased 9X13 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Place on cooling rack and prepare glaze.
Glaze
Place sugar, butter and milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat and cook stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil. Boil, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the chocolate chips. When chips have melted and the glaze is smooth, pour it over he warm cake so that it covers the entire surface. Cool the cake for 20 min. before serving.
