    I found out you can add 1T baking powder and a little salt to regular cornmeal to make self-rising cornmeal. Hadn't had fried green tomatoes since I was a kid, but was willing to try again for my evening "light" meal. Son and Hubby also tried them for the first time and had seconds :) - 8/1/10
