Delicious Homemade BBQ Beans

2 cans Great Northern beans2 cans tomato puree1 Tbsp olive oil1 very small yellow onion1 clove garlic1 tsp chili powderpinch cayenne1 Tb worchestershire sauce (vegetarian, if desired)1 1/2 Tb soy sauce/tamari sauce1 Tbsp dry mustard1 tsp smoked paprika3 tbsp honey2 tbsp molasses1/3 cup vinegar
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Heat the oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, cover, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the chili powder and cayenne. Add the tomato puree, and remaining sauce ingredients. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until slightly reduced, about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Place the beans in a lightly oiled 1 ½ quart baking dish. Add the sauce, stirring to combine. Cover and bake until hot and bubbly, about 20 minutes. Serve hot.
Serves 6, about 2/3-3/4 cup each.
