I LOVED this recipe. I added a touch of nutmeg with the cinammon and used splenda brown sugar to reduce the calories even further. Just like apple pie without the crust (and added fat). I plan to make this dish for Christmas and will add some pecans. - 12/2/08

Here is a more simple version of the baked apple. Core apple place brown sugar & cinnamon in core. Notice that I omitted the butter. put in microwave safe dish, cover with paper towel or glass lid. Microwave to desired consistency. I like mine slightly crisp so it takes about 1.5 minutes. - 5/31/09

I used the splenda brown sugar blend along with spray butter to cut down the calories. Instead of oatmeal, i crushed a cinnamon/raison granola bar. Great for breakfast! - 5/31/08

I grew up having cinnamon baked apples. Now, when I make them, I also add some dried cranberries and a some slivered almonds. Yum! I even serve these to guests as a dessert. (I add a little spiced whipped cream or creme fraiche on special occasions.) - 2/18/08

I sliced the apples and sprinkled them with some lemon juice and a tbsp of apple juice, then sprinkled in the brown sugar along with the cinnamon and some nutmeg and sauteed covered. Served over oatmeal. - 2/23/08

I use a brown sugar substitute and it tastes great (and if pressed for time, you can chop the apples, mix with the cinnamon, margarin, and sugar or sugar substitute and throw it in the microwave for a couple minutes til tender - great topping for diet friendly ice cream or by itself) - 11/27/07

I have made this in the past...want a twist. No water in the bottom. Put Fago red pop or Big red pop instead of water....no sugar is required in the apples...... puts a really different taste to the apples. - 5/31/09
