Terra's 'secret ingredient' Chili

1/2 lb. 93% lean ground beef3/4 cup chopped onion 1 tsp minced, or crushed garlic1 15.5-oz can chili beans1/2 15.5-oz can black beans1 6-oz can tomato paste 1 Tbs. cumin3 Tbs. Chili powder1oz bittersweet chocolate
Brown meat in a large dutch oven (deep skillet). Drain if necessary.
Add onion and garlic, saute until onion is cooked thoroughly.
Add remaining ingredients, except for the chocolate. Over med heat, cover and bring to a simmer. Simmer for about 15 to 20 mins.
Chop up and stir in the chocolate, til it melts in. Cover and simmer for another 5 mins.
Makes 4 servings (1 cup each)
TIP: I like to prepare the onions, meat and garlic the night before, then in the morning throw it all into the slow cooker (minus the chocolate), and cook on low for about 8 hours, adding the chocolate in during the last hour.
