simple split pea soup

Ingredients
16 oz. dried split peas1 lb. diced lean ham2 carrots, peeled and diced1 small onion, diced2 stalks celery, diced8 cups chicken broth 2 cups water1 bay leaf1 tsp. dried thyme
Directions
add all the ingredients in a 6 quart stock pot and allow to simmer for 1-2 hours. When the peas fall apart and thicken the soup its done. SO EASY!
