Deb's broccoli salad

1 large bunch of broccoli to make 4 cups chopped1 raw onion medium size =1 cup chopped6 slices of lean bacon microwaved or pan fried til done (crumble into small pieces)1/2 cup of green bell pepper chopped fineIn separate bowl or measuring cup mix 1/2 cup of milk (skim, 1 or 2 %)4 tbs. of miracle whip lite4 tsp. light brown sugar
rinse broccoli, chop and drain any excess water, then place in deep storage bowl, add gr. pepper, onion, bacon crumbled after pan fried and patted dry with paper towel to absorb any grease,
In separate measuring cup or small bowl mix together milk, brown sugar, and miracle whip light, mix together well, then pour over all the vegetables and toss well.
Then top with walnuts and shredded cheddar cheese.
Seal bowl and chill for 1 hr.
